'For Colored Girls' movie premieres in NYC

Heart-shaking. Soul-stirring. Brilliant. These are the words that come to mind when I think of the poignant play by Ntozake Shange, 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf.' Tyler Perry took on the difficult task of turning this classic into a feature film and according to reviews, he nailed it.

The premiere took place last night at the Ziegfeld theater in Manhattan, and the red carpet was blazing with black star power. Attendees included Janet Jackson, Phylicia Rashad, the legendary Ruby Dee, Hill Harper and many others.

"For Colored Girls" portrays the black female experience, digging into what it means to be a woman of color. The film is likely to make you laugh, cry, rejoice and most of all ... think. The movie will hit theaters Nov. 5, and I am more excited about seeing this than a little girl on Christmas morning.
