"Harold & Kumar" fans, rejoice: Actor Kal Penn is back for a third installment of the marijuana-loving duo's adventures.

Nine months after leaving Hollywood for the White House, Kalpen Modi, 32 (Kal Penn is his stage name), is headed back to Tinseltown to shoot a new "Harold & Kumar" movie, Reuters reports.

The New Line Studios film, set to be directed by newcomer Todd Strauss Schulson, will have a Christmas theme, according to Entertainment Weekly. Filming is set to begin in late June with plans for a holiday 2011 release. The studio is debating whether the movie might be shot in 3-D.

Penn will leave his post as White House associate director of public engagement to shoot the film, EW reports. He had had a role in the television show "House" until his character was killed off last April, per the actor's request.
