A small movie from two Long Island filmmakers out-grossed James Bond over the weekend, at least at one local cinema.

"Friends and Romans," a comedy about Italian-American actors who put on one of Shakespeare's plays, earned more than the latest James Bond movie on both Saturday and Sunday nights at Roslyn Cinemas, according to the screenwriter.

"Friends and Romans" was written by Gregg Greenberg with director Christopher Kublan, both Jericho High School graduates.

According to Rentrak figures provided by Greenberg, "Spectre" led the overall three-day weekend at Roslyn thanks to a strong performance on Friday night.

Nevertheless, "Friends and Romans" grossed $1,291 compared to James Bond's $769 on Saturday, then triumphed again Sunday, earning $789 compared to Bond's $499.

"Friends and Romans" is being held over at Roslyn Cinemas for an additional week through Nov. 19. Greenberg will hold a Q-and-A at the 6:30 p.m. Friday screening.
