'Truth," a drama starring Robert Redford as former CBS newsman Dan Rather and Cate Blanchett as "60 Minutes" producer Mary Mapes, will be the opening-night film at the 23rd Hamptons International Film Festival on Oct. 8.

Among the other scheduled films in competition at the festival, which runs through Oct. 12, are Matt Sobel's "Take Me to the River," about a gay teenager attending a family reunion in Nebraska; Danish director Michael Madsen's "The Visit," which imagines an alien invasion on Earth; and the documentary "Newman," about enigmatic inventor Joseph Newman, who created an electromagnetic machine that he claimed produced more energy than it took to power it.
