Academy Award-winner Dame Helen Mirren has confirmed that she will appear in “Fast 8,” the next film in the “Fast & Furious” action-movie franchise.

“I’m about to do [‘Fast 8’] ‘Fast and Furious 8,’” Mirren, 70, told Elle magazine in an interview posted Wednesday. “But that’s for the fun of it,” as opposed to roles in more serious movies, she explained. “So maybe that’s what I want as well, some fun and some relevant, serious, important movies.”

She added, “I’ve always rather loved driving. I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive if I do drive in it.’ But we’ll see. We’ll see how it transpires.” The film is scheduled for release April 14, 2017.
