Holmes, gnomes, a Teflon Don and a puppet murder-mystery are among the top choices to receive the yearly worst-of movie awards, the Razzies.

Nominations for the 39th annual Golden Raspberry Awards, bestowed by the same-name organization of 1,047 movie-lovers paying a membership fee, were announced over the weekend, with four films earning six nods each to lead the pack: "Gotti," "The Happytime Murders," "Holmes & Watson" and the documentary "Death of a Nation." The ghost story "Winchester" received four nominations, while last year's big-budget remake "Robin Hood" got three.

Actors who did not leave unscathed include such A-listers as Johnny Depp — nominated twice for the animated "Sherlock Gnomes," as worst actor and as worst screen combo ("Johnny Depp & His Fast-Fading Film Career") — Will Ferrell, Jamie Foxx, Melissa McCarthy, Bruce Willis and even Dame Helen Mirren.

President Donald Trump appears twice on the list: under worst actor for the documentaries "Death of a Nation," by conservative political commentator Dinesh D'Souza, and "Fahrenheit 11/9," by Academy Award-winning documentarian-gadfly Michael Moore; and worst screen combo, as "Donald J, Trump & His Self-Perpetuating Pettiness." First lady Melania Trump has a worst supporting actress nomination for "Fahrenheit 11/9."

The Razzies cheekily gave "Death of a Nation" — which, like "Gotti," earned zero positive reviews on the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes — a nod for worst remake, rip-off or sequel, calling it a rehash of D'Souza's 2016 "Hillary's America." Nominators additionally listed the giant-shark movie "The Meg" in that category, as a poor relation to the 1975 classic "Jaws."
