Matthew McConaughey won't be back for 'Magic Mike' sequel
Matthew McConaughey will not be reprising his role as a male stripper in the upcoming "Magic Mike XXL," the sequel to the 2012 comedy drama starring himself, Channing Tatum and others. Indiewire.com said sequel director Greg Jacobs, who served as a producer and first assistant director on the Steven Soderbergh-helmed original, confirmed that McConaughey would not return and that Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello would be back. "It's road trip movie and . . . it's different enough that once you see it you'll understand why we made a sequel," Jacobs said. The film is scheduled for release July 1.
