THE MOVIE “Hacksaw Ridge”

THE DEAL Gibson’s first directing effort in a decade met with a 10-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival earlier this week, Deadline reports. The film stars Andrew Garfield as Desmond T. Doss, a conscientious objector who served in World War II without a weapon but nevertheless saved 75 men in Okinawa. “A lot of attention needs to be paid to our warriors,” Gibson told reporters at the festival. “They need some love and understanding. I hope this film imparts that message.”

THE MOVIE “Revenge — The Story of Iceman”

THE DEAL Otzi, the mummified iceman discovered in the Austrian Alps 25 years ago, will be the subject of a biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The tattooed nomad, whom scientists analyzed thoroughly after his perfectly preserved remains were found in 1991, will be played by German actor Jürgen Vogel. Otzi is believed to have died after an arrow wound to his shoulder and a potentially fatal blow to the head.
