THE DEAL The actor will be honored as the year's outstanding performer at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in February. Carell, who plays against type as a creepy, unstable millionaire in the film (directed by Bennett Miller, of "Capote"), joins an impressive list of Oscar nominees and winners who have been singled out for the California festival's acting award. Past honorees include Cate Blanchett in "Blue Jasmine," Colin Firth in "A Single Man" and Charlize Theron in "Monster."

THE DEAL DreamWorks Animation has pushed its supernatural action-comedy out of next year's summer schedule, according to Variety.com. The film, which involves a school for ghosts, features the voices of Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, Rashida Jones and Bill Murray as the villain. "B.O.O." was slated for June 5, a date that would have put the film in competition with Pixar's "Inside Out," due for release two weeks later.
