Annie Lennox 'Nostalgia' review: Truly special

Annie Lennox traced the roots of the Motown music she loved as a Scottish teenager and found the jazz and blues standards of "Nostalgia" (Blue Note). Lennox has always been a gifted vocalist, but the quiet defiance she gives "Strange Fruit" shows she continues to stretch artistically in a project that could have been average.
However, as great as it is to hear the Eurythmics singer give well-worn classics like "Georgia on My Mind" and "I Put a Spell on You" her own spin, it's her reintroduction of lesser-known classics like "I Cover the Waterfront" and "September in the Rain" that make "Nostalgia" truly special.
