Jimmy Buffett’s longtime compadres, The Coral Reefer Band, have announced a 19-city U.S. tour that will stop at Wantagh's Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on Aug. 6.

"Before Jimmy passed in September of 2023, he asked that everyone ‘keep the party going,’ " the tour announcement stated, "and that’s just what his band continues to do."

With a name that evokes both a tropical vacation and something a little trippier, The Coral Reefer Band backed Buffett across six decades, beginning in the mid-1970s. Among the dozens of members who came and went were classic-rock session drummer Russ Kunkel, guitarist-songwriter Jerry Jeff Walker ("Mr. Bojangles") and Eagles bassist-vocalist Timothy B. Schmit ("I Can’t Tell You Why"). Longtime Reefer Mac McAnally leads the current lineup, which includes Scotty Emerick, known for his collaborations with Toby Keith and Willie Nelson; multi-instrumentalist Will Kimbrough; and former Arrested Development vocalist Nadirah Shakoor. In 2025, the band backed the Doobie Brothers at a Jones Beach show.

Buffett, a part-time East End resident, was best known for his laid-back 1977 hit "Margaritaville," although his fans — affectionately dubbed Parrotheads — might also know his '70s-era singles "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes," "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and "Fins." Buffett scored a No. 1 country hit in 2003 with "It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere," a duet with Alan Jackson.

Tickets for all Coral Reefer Band shows go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m.
