If Nicki Minaj's exorcism dramatization at the Grammys was too, er, cerebral, her new single "Starships" (Young Money) balances it out by being enjoyably mindless. Produced by Red One, "Starships" has a generic '90s rave riff at its core and a chorus that could have been done by a dozen or so artists, from Pitbull to Lady Gaga. Oddly, it's Minaj's charismatic verses that save this from being utterly anonymous fun, like she's a guest star on her own song. Nevertheless, it works.
