LMFAO works it out with 'Party Rock Anthem'
LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" isn't just for rugrats anymore. Sure, the ubiquitous tune won at this year's Kids' Choice Awards -- favorite song of the year, duh -- but it's also a fave of gym rats. (Wouldn't "Sexy and I Know It" be a better choice? They even sing "I work out" in that one.)
Gold's Gym and Men's Health magazine announced this week that the electro duo's "blood-pumping popular track" (not our words) won the title of greatest workout song of the year. The song was nominated by Knicks' forward Steve Novak and battled its way through a bracket of 15 other tunes -- including Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" and Pitbull's "Give Me Everything Tonight."
"I was excited to hear that 'Party Rock Anthem' came out on top during March Music Madness this year," Novak said in a statement. "The song has always helped push me through some of my most difficult workouts, helping me up my game on the court."
After nominations were received by Gold's Gym and Men's Health, trainers and fitness experts, um, weighed in and whittled the list down. As part of the competition, Gold's is donating $5,000 to charity of choice on behalf of the winning nominator. In Novak's case, the charity is the Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation, which encourages education and research of connective tissue disorders.
