Long Islanders who have reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart
Starting Tuesday, July 31 at noon and running through Sunday night, Aug. 5, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (Ch. 3) will mark the 60th anniversary of the Billboard Hot 100 chart by playing in chronological order every No. 1 hit starting from the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, debut -- Ricky Nelson’s “Poor Little Fool."
Nelson wasn’t from Long Island, but during the past 60 years, there have been 10 LIers who have reached No.1 on the Hot 100.
U.S. Bonds

U.S. Bonds, “Quarter to Three” (June 26-July 9, 1961): Although he recorded the song -- a major influence on Bruce Springsteen -- as a young man in his hometown, Norfolk, Va., Bonds (whose real name is Gary Anderson) has been a longtime Wheatley Heights resident.
