The city has a new "Global Welcome Ambassador" (yes, that's a thing).
Taylor Swift, whose "1989" album was just released with her single "Welcome to New York," has joined NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization to promote visiting the city's five boroughs.
“New York City is a truly welcoming city, and 'Welcome To New York' perfectly exemplifies the unrivaled hospitality, energy and excitement that can be felt throughout all five boroughs,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company in a press release. “We are pleased to work with Taylor Swift to welcome visitors from around the world."
Her song will be used in videos on nycgo.com, NYC Taxi TVs and more... so get used to it.
While Swift is not an NYC native (she was raised in Pennsylvania), she bought a penthouse in Tribeca earlier this year.
And true T-Swift fans may have to "shake off" their fear of Times Square crowds: the singer will headline 'New Year's Rockin' Eve.'
Swift will ring in 2015 with a live performance at the annual Times Square celebration.
Ryan Seacrest will host the five-and-a-half hour televised celebration for the tenth year in a row, and more than 30 musical acts are promised, though no other names have been announced.
Last year's lineup included Miley Cyrus, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Blondie, Icona Pop, Jencarlos Canela and Melissa Etheridge.
