The LI Sound: Up-and-comers will play Bamboozle

Though this year's edition of the Bamboozle Festival at the Meadowlands Complex doesn't have a traditional Long Island scene heavyweight to anchor the show, it does have a good selection of up-and-coming area bands to mix it up with headliners Paramore and Weezer.

Gabriel the Marine - The Lattingtown band is fresh off opening for John Nolan on his solo tour and recently released a live EP recorded during last year's CMJ Festival. After playing Bamboozle Day 2, the indie rockers head off on tour with Hotspur.

Sainthood Reps - Straight from playing Record Store Day at Looney Tunes in West Babylon, the atmospheric rockers are set for Day 2.

Score 24 - The Seaford power-pop band is building on last year's debut "It's Contagious," playing Day 1 as they get ready to hit the road with The Warped Tour for much of July and August.

Wild International - The promising Dix Hills-based band landed a Bamboozle slot on Day 2 by winning The Break Contest with its experimental-tinged mix of folk, indie rock and some dance music.

One Long Island band that won't be playing the Bamboozle this year is the newly reunited "Tell All Your Friends"-era Taking Back Sunday. Though the Rockville Centre-based band is tight with Bamboozle organizers - even recording their live album "Live From Bamboozle '09," last year - singer Adam Lazzara says the band is focusing on writing new material at the moment. "We'll be in a studio outside El Paso when Bamboozle is going on this year," he says, adding that they will try out some new songs at a handful of shows this summer.
