'The Voice' coaches past and present

Adam Levine who has coached "The Voice" since its debut in 2011, will not be returning as a coach for the competition's 17th season, which premieres fall 2019. "Voice" host Carson Daly announced the change on May 24, 2019, on "Today." Daly said it was Levine's decision to leave, adding that he "will always be a cherished member of 'The Voice' family, and of course we wish him nothing but the best." Gwen Stefani will replace him.

Gwen Stefani joined "The Voice" in 2014 as a coach for its seventh season and then would coach for a few more seasons, off and on. She returned for season 9 in 2015, season 12 in 2017 and will be returning once again for season 17 just as long-running coach Adam Levine announced he would not be returning. Season 17 premieres fall 2019.

Christina Aguilera became the first female coach on "The Voice" to have a winner on the show when Alisan Porter was crowned the season 10 winner. Aguilera became a coach on season 1 in 2011 and continued for season 2 and 3 in 2012, before taking a hiatus between season 3 and 5. She left again after season 5 in 2013, taking a two-season break during which she got engaged and gave birth to her daughter, before returning again for season 8 (2015) and then again for season 10 in 2016.

Pharrell Williams began to occupy the big red swivel chair on the singing competition's seventh season in 2014. Williams remained a judge through season 10 in 2016, but left before season 11 which continued that year.

Blake Shelton has been a mainstay on "The Voice" since its first season in 2011. He has coached five winners throughout his time on the show.

CeeLo Green was part of the original panel, but left after season 3 in 2012. He returned for season 5 in 2013, but hasn't been back since. Green made a brief reappearance in the season 10 finale for a duet with finalist Hannah Huston.
