'The Voice' mentors set, includes 'Idol' Kelly Clarkson

The battle between “The Voice” and “American Idol” is heating up, with the newcomer eager to show off its star-studded lineup, which even includes the original “American Idol” Kelly Clarkson – even though its debut isn't for another month.

Clarkson will be part of “Voice” judge Blake Shelton's team of mentors, which also includes Mrs. Shelton, better known as country superstar Miranda Lambert.

Judge Adam Levine's team will include Alanis Morissette, who recently appeared on the finale of “The X Factor” and R&B crooner Robin Thicke. Cee Lo Green's team includes Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Ne-Yo, while Christina Aguilera will get help from Jewel, who hosted the Bravo music reality show “Platinum Hit” and Lionel Richie.

“These renowned musicians will bring their unique and recognizable musical styles to the teams,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC's president of late night and alternative programming, in a statement. “They are well-respected singers whose invaluable experience will be a tremendous asset to Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton’s artists.”

“The Voice” is set to debut on Feb. 5 following the Super Bowl, before it starts it regular run on Mondays on Feb. 6. “American Idol” kicks off on Jan. 18 and 19.
