Overheard at the Hamptons International Film Festival

James Franco, on his favorite movies: "I have to say, I was obsessed with those 'Lord of the Rings' movies. To my girlfriend's chagrin, I spent an entire weekend getaway with her watching them all."

Julian Schnabel, on living in Montauk: "There's one place I never go and I will never go and I've never been, and it's called The Surf Lodge. If anyone ever tells you they saw me in The Surf Lodge, they're lying."

Stanley Tucci, on being surrounded by Freida Pinto, Jessica Chastain and other beautiful young actresses: "One said her favorite movie of mine was 'Beethoven,' which is a kids' movie. They were all children when it came out! That made me even sadder."

Isabella Rossellini, on her ex-husbands and current single status:

"First, Martin Scorsese. Is there a better guy? And then David Lynch, who is fantastic... I don't think I'm difficult, I think I'm independent, and maybe that's not liked by men. I also tend to fall for guys who love their career. For Marty, films were more important than marriage. So there was some neglect there."

Director Doug Liman on "Fair Game," which recounts Scooter Libby's role in the Valerie Plame affair: "Scooter's lawyer couldn't find anything to object to in the facts of the film, other than the fact that we played scary, ominous music over the scenes that show Scooter Libby."

Schnabel, on his multi-ethnic Middle East drama "Miral:" "If you look at the credits, it looks like Daniel Barenboim's orchestra. It's Israelis and Palestinians working together."

Tom Hooper, director of "The King's Speech," on whether the Queen has seen the film: "What I'm to understand is that I'll never know whether the Queen has watched the film, and if so I'll never know what she thought of it."

Franco, answering a fan's question on whether Sean Penn was a good kisser in the film "Milk:" "He's good, yeah. He kissed Madonna."
