MTV chose Lady Gaga. People magazine chose Sandra Bullock. Glamour magazine chose Fergie, Julia Roberts, Donatella Versace and others. So who is our woman of the year? Willow Smith, that's who. Sure, at 10 she's not technically a woman or even a tween, for that matter. But in 2010 the tiny popstar created a name for herself and broke free of her family name.

So why else did Pet Rock choose Willow? Well, she came out of nowhere! Early this year the spotlight was heavy on her brother, Jaden, for his roles in two blockbuster hits, “The Day After Tomorrow” and “The Karate Kid.” She was just the adorable little sister. But, when she came on the scene as the new signee to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation record label, she was like a bomb that exploded on the music scene. And no one saw her coming.

Her hit single, “Whip My Hair,” had the Internet and social media sites buzzing for weeks. It was in constant rotation on the airwaves, and she probably caused a lot of injuries with women attempting to whip their hair in the clubs.

She quickly stole the hearts of many when she premiered her video on BET's "106 and Park" and cried after receiving a plaque from the "106" cast.

Everything from her hair to her choice of clothing had everyone's eyes glued to what this second-generation celebrity was on the brink of. She has often been compared to a younger version of Rihanna. It's doubtful their music will be the same, but she seems to have what it takes to reach that level of stardom. Having famous parents surely helped to boost the young singer into the spotlight, but she's proved that she's out to make a name for herself in the music world.

Our young star caused crazy buzz on the net for reasons that weren’t so great as well. She did admit to falling behind in school because of her new career and busy schedule. This is certainly something to be frowned upon, but mama Smith probably won't let that go on for too much longer.

For being young, fresh, unique and able to take the shine away from some of the veterans in the game, Willow Smith is Pet Rock’s (little) woman of the year.
