Scary movies to rent for Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, you may be looking for some scary movies to get you into the spirit. While “Paranormal Activity 3” is this year’s main Halloween horror movie release, out in theaters Oct. 21, we've got some favorites of our own here at Pet Rock headquarters.

We took an informal poll of ghouls sitting around us here in the newsroom, and here are their suggestions for your Halloween movie night.

I stay away from scary movies for the most part, but "Amityville Horror" really crept me out because it took place way too close to home, and was supposedly based on a true story. I hate anything gory, but I especially hate watching a scary movie and thinking somewhere in the back of my mind that it could happen in real life. I saw the 2005 remake, but the original was from 1979. I didn't see the original so I can't compare the two. Also "When A Stranger Calls" (2006) that came out when I was in high school baby-sitting all the time, and the main character being chased/watched was a young girl baby-sitting. I couldn't baby-sit at other people's houses for weeks after seeing that! -- Nina
