Another postponement for 'Spider-Man'?
Bono attended last night's performance of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark." The co-composer of the troubled $65 million musical was expected to help decide whether to delay the opening for an unprecedented sixth time.
The show is scheduled to open officially March 15, though it has been in high-grossing previews since Nov. 28. Bono, who wrote the music and lyrics with fellow U2 member The Edge, has not seen director Julie Taymor's production since mid-January.
Tuesday was a busy media day for three of the show's stars. In a brief interview on CBS's "The Early Show," Reeve Carney (Spidey), Jennifer Damiano (Mary Jane) and T.V. Carpio (Arachne) told host Chris Wragge that even they are in the dark about the rumored postponement.
Asked about the effects of the negative press and high-profile injuries, Carney said, "You have to have a good sense of humor about yourself. . . . The audience reaction is so positive."
The three also sang the show's "Rise Above" Tuesday night on "The Late Show With David Letterman." A giant LED screen projected scenes from the show. Nobody onstage flew. and nobody fell.
