Wendell Pierce is about to bring Willy Loman back to life on Broadway.

The actor, who is best known for his work in the acclaimed HBO drama series "The Wire," will reprise his London stage role in a revival of Arthur Miller's "Death of a Salesman" next season featuring an all-Black cast. Also appearing from the London production will be Sharon D Clarke, who won the Olivier Award for her performance as Loman's wife, Linda. "Hadestown" Tony Award winner André De Shields joins the cast as Loman's brother, Ben.

“Looking at 'Death of a Salesman' from the perspective of a Black family living in a predominantly white capitalist world changes the way that you hear this text,” said Miranda Cromwell, the play's director, in a statement. “Wendell and Sharon illuminate the heart of this play in a new way that is both universal and entirely specific.”

Additional casting as well as a theater and opening date will be announced at a later time.

"Death of a Salesman" premiered on Broadway in 1949 starring Lee J. Cobb as Willy, and has been revived four other times. George C. Scott played Willy in 1975, followed by Dustin Hoffman in 1984, Brian Dennehy in 1999 and Philip Seymour Hoffman in 2012.
