Black and white were the major color themes on "American Idol" Wednesday night, and we’re not just talking about the contestants. Nicki Minaj led the way with a black and white ensemble, and she underscored the combo with a platinum wig that featured a black part down the middle.

Candice Glover donned a white studded jacket over a simple black top and pant outfit, jazzing up the outfit up with a pair of red stilettos. Juliana Chahayed, 15, who we wish they didn’t cut, looked sweet and age appropriate in a white frock with a cutout back paired with red shoes.

Rachel Hale went monochromatic, too, adding a touch of sparkle with sequins at the collar of her sleeveless top. Breanna Steer was pure vixen in a slim black jumpsuit with a little embellishment at the waist and big, sparkly shoes. Minaj heartily approved of the look.

Cristabel Clack added fire to her get-up with a red skirt that matched her chunky red beaded necklace, worn with a black top and a white, bow printed sweater. Petite Jett Hermano went for black sparkles in a slouchy, off the shoulder number over slim pants. Animal prints were the choice du jour of two gals.

Melinda Ademi’s quirky little outfit featured a leopard print top worn with black leather shorts, pink tights and boots. Zoanette Johnson worked one crazy get up – a high-low hemmed animal print skirted-dress that featured a leather bustier top, leather jacket with animal print cuffs and matching shoes. Keith Urban called her, “The queen of the jungle.”

Country gal Janelle Arthur did not look put together -- kind of a snooze in her fringy peach top, jeans and cowboy boots. Overall, it wasn't great in terms of fashion -- send in the stylists. Best look of the night? Sexy Aubrey Cleland's curve clinging bandage dress that bucked the black and white theme – it was champagne – appropriate, as her performance was something to celebrate.
