'American Idol' sells out to Queen on a Wednesday night

"American Idol" has lost its way -- tonight's Wednesday, right? So why does the show start with the over-the-hill rock band Queen chatting with the six finalists, followed by the contestants -- who are supposed to be fighting for a spot in the top five tonight -- instead doing a cheesy medley of Queen songs?

Doesn't Fox usually reserve this type of product placement for "Idol" results night, Thursday?!

The medley is mushy and unmemorable, as might be expected. Really odd way to start out an important night.
