When it comes to beauty and fashion winners last night on 'American Idol', the nod goes to mentor Shania Twain who is drop-dead gorgeous even in a pair of ripped-up jeans and a black tank top, though she added some glitter with a navy sequin jacket.

She is eye candy all the way, and her lovely appearance seems to match her personality.

As for the contestants, there were two fashion standouts last night:

Lee DeWyze is still the one to watch and continued the man-boy rumpled theme with a blazer, collar shirt topping a tee and loosened tie. Looked like a handsome guy after a hard day at work, and Ellen DeGeneres said, “You couldn’t look cuter.”

Then there was Siohban Magnus. She’s taken some fashion risks, and she did it again last night in a little floral mini dress with lace-up bodice and peplum, a quirky army green string vest and white short boots. Oh yes, and there was the scorpion necklace – how apropos…she killed it up there with great vocals. The look, trashy-meets-country-meets-punky, worked for the song and Randy Jackson said he loved it. Last week she went too far, but this week, just far enough not to be distracting.

Then there were the rest:

-Crystal Bowersox bombed from a fashion and musical standpoint. Both her dress – an ill-fitting strapless mini – and her song – were too small. The frock’s winey color drained her and the big leather belt and cowboy boots with bare legs – not flattering in the least. However, we still think she’s the greatest.

-Though he performed well, we’re tired of the whole layered look for Aaron Kelly – it’s always the same – the structured jacket of the week was denim and featured contrasting stitching and some grommet detailing, the underneath shirt was plaid, and of course, the sleeves were rolled to the elbow. It’s more of a disguise than a signature – so uptight; we’d love the stylists to let him be a little messier.

-Michael Lynche was smart to keep his layers on this week. His black outer jacket featured stud-outlined elbow patches. He looked pretty good.

-Casey James returned to the western shirt – this week light and dotted – though his hair seemed to have new life, somewhere between Farrah Fawcett and Peter Frampton back in the day.

Judges looked pretty normal – Randy did the signature cardigan, this one patchwork, and Ellen nixed the menswear in favor of a black sporty jacket and scarf. Kara Dioguardia wore a major chunk of bling at her neck and thankfully Simon bid adieu to last week’s nerdy grandpa look and wore a form-fitting sweater to show off his biceps. Whoo-hoo.
