TLC is still not commenting on that ubiquitous report late yesterday that Sarah Palin and Kate Gosselin will star together -- however briefly -- in a TLC special.

In Touch Weekly writes it up as a fait accompli. Quoth the mag: "In Touch can exclusively reveal that Kate and her brood have traveled to Alaska with cameras in tow to meet up with the northern state’s most famous resident, Sarah Palin.

“Sarah, Kate and the kids will go camping,” a source says, adding that Sarah’s father, a retired science teacher, and brother, a third-grade educator, will conduct a hands-on natural history lesson for 9-year-old twins Mady and Cara, and 6-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Joel, Collin, Leah, Hannah and Alexis.

This would all make perfect sense -- in a TV sort of way. Kate, of course, is prepping for her new show; Palin is also putting together her Discovery Channel series.

Same corporate overseer -- why not a little cross-promotion?

In other words, I don't think any of this suggests Kate is about to become a Tea Party activist, or has designs on becoming Sarah's running mate when she runs for the Big House.

  But never say never.

Stranger things have happened.  (Haven't they.)

I'm spitballing here but maybe Palin and Gosselin have in mind a one hour special. Or, maybe they'll both make cameos for each other series, in a sort of I'll-stratch-your-back-you-do-same-thing-to-mine.
