Phillip Phillips finally erupts properly on 'American Idol'

Phillip Phillips doing Damien Rice's "Volcano" as the four remaining "American Idol" sings songs they wish they'd written.

Wow, for once his smoldering persona fits the song; easily his most compelling performance of the season. Not doing the same old: in shadows, not head-on, no smirk. And vocally he's bending himself to the song, instead of the other way around.

"Very few people could've pulled that off," says Jennifer Lopez. "It was one of the most beautiful, poignant moments a contestant has ever had."

Randy Jackson says, "That was one of your best performances on the whole season."
