"Jersey Shore" housemate Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has refuted that she is seeing anyone, a day after she was proposed to by way of a New Jersey magazine cover.

Polizzi responded on her Twitter account Tuesday to putative boyfriend Jeff Miranda, who asked for her hand - in large type on the cover of a Steppin' Out magazine.

Her answer: "Just want to set the record straight. I'm single and I'm not going to get married!"

Scott Talarico, one of Polizzi's managers at the Buffalo, N.Y.-based Neon Entertainment, acknowledged to Newsday that she and Miranda had met in mid-August - on Friday the 13th, according to Us Magazine - but said: "She is single, with no immediate plans to change that status. She is not currently dating and hasn't been seeing anybody while taping in Seaside Heights," the Jersey shore town where the MTV reality show has been shooting since mid-July.

He said he couldn't be more specific. "We can't give away too much because it's part of the show."

Miranda, 24, of Millstone, N.J., had met Polizzi, 22, at the Seaside Heights bar Karma.

His proposal appears on the Sept. 10 cover the weekly Steppin' Out, an image of which was released Monday to the media.

Chaunce Hayden, its editor-in-chief, said Miranda doubted the veracity of Polizzi's tweet because the producers, Miranda told him, don't let the cast read magazines or newspapers or use computers while the show is in production, raising the question of how she'd heard about the cover.
