Will Pat Buchanan -- 'Blacklisted, not beaten' -- join Fox?

Pat Buchanan -- whose career as a cable commentator is measured in decades, not years -- was cut loose from MSNBC yesterday, as you are probably aware. So, should we expect an announcement from Fox News any day now that he has joined there? 

That wouldn't be a surprise, although Fox would then have to pick up the cudgel that MSNBC refused to -- that his book, "Survival of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025," is not racist or anti-Semitic. That may be too much of a distraction, and so the flip side is also equally possible -- that Buchanan's long association with TV dating back nearly to the Nixon presidency and nearly 20 years on CNN alone, may well have come to an end. (Again, to cover bets here -- for the moment.)    

He broke his own story, tweeting his departure last night, and posting a long statement on the website on his magazine, "The American Conservative," that he had finally been let go. 

"My days as a political analyst at MSNBC have come to an end. After 10 enjoyable years, I am departing, after an incessant clamor from the left that to permit me continued access to the microphones of MSNBC would be an outrage against decency, and dangerous.... 

This is not, repeat not, a surprise, and one of his detractors, Colorofchange.org, even lauded his firing in a news release weeks ago. MSNBC has kept him off the air for even more weeks, after he promoted his new book on a radio station that some have said espouses white supremacist views. Colorofchange said Buchanan's book also  espoused such a view.  He's disputed that, and does so again in this statement.
