Best: of the most excellent, effective, or desirable type or quality. Buddy: a close friend.

These two definitions are what our school club, Best of Buddies, is all about. In the club you are paired up with a buddy who is disabled and you hang out with him or her and have a fun time doing activities and playing games. It is the best feeling when you know you made a kid smile and create memories that they will remember forever!

The advisers are also amazing. Mary Hanna, Regina Gleason, and Adele Daigger help so many kids overcome the fear of making new friends. They also plan activities like creating murals and hanging up artwork around the school that members make. I talked to seventh-grader Shelby Wineburg who absolutely loves the club and has been a member for two years. He said, “I like making new friends and I like helping people make a friend also!”

I also talked to seventh-grader Lauren Mundinger who wants to join the club. She said, “I want to join the club because I would love to help someone find a friend and have fun.”
