Keep Pluggin retro video game event benefits fellowship

Buy retro video games and experience virtual reality with the HTC Vive headset at the biannual Keep Pluggin retro video game event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington, 10l Browns Rd.
What’s considered a “retro video game”? “Usually, games and systems developed in the 1970s through the ’90s — that could mean games played on arcade, home consoles as well as portable devices,” says Ben Farrell, the 23-year-old Keep Pluggin event founder.
In addition to thousands of retro video games and systems for sale from dealers and collectors (think Nintendo, Sega, Intellivision, PlayStation), the event will feature video game tournaments for cash prizes (Mario Brothers and Super Smash Brothers on Wii U), free arcade play (Ms. Pac Man, Space Invaders, Tetris) and a handheld gaming lounge to hang out with fellow gamers. New this event are free Professional Virtual Reality demonstrations all day long. Take a turn playing a virtual reality game.
The event is partly a fundraiser for the fellowship. Admission is $12 per adult, $6 for kids younger than 10 in advance at keeppluggin.com or $15 and $8 respectively at the door.
