The intersection of Waverly Avenue and Station Avenue in Patchogue just north of Sunrise Highway appears to have issues with traffic. I think these issues prove to be a safety hazard. Many people can get hurt in car accidents. These accidents can get very serious as well.

I think the local government should do something about this and figure out a way to make the cars drive a little slower and more carefully through my neighborhood. I had a talk with local residents, and they agreed that the government should fix this.

One resident told me that the intersection is too close to the service road intersection of Sunrise Highway. The lights for these intersections aren’t synchronized. A resident suggested making Station Avenue a dead end. This would help reduce accidents. Another resident suggested making Station Avenue a 90-degree turn to force drivers to slow down when they turn.

I’m sure I’m not the only person who has a problem seeing car accidents. With any luck, this article might make a change.
