Oysterponds School has an amazing music program. It includes band, chorus and violin.
There are two bands: a fourth-grade band and a fifth- and sixth-grade band. The entire school participates in chorus. There is an extra chorus for kids who want to sign up. Violin is offered to students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Each year, we have two concerts, one in the winter and one in the spring. The winter concerts are holiday-themed and the spring concert themes are randomly picked, such as “Under the Sea.”
If you haven’t had enough music at our school, you can also apply for the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association (scmea.org). And if that isn’t enough, you can also find out about NYSSMA, or New York State School Music Association (nyssma.org). Good luck, and keep playing beautiful music!
