My brother is a soldier and my hero

My brother, Keith, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2010. He told me he felt a need to defend our country. In early 2012 his company was deployed to Zhari District in the southern region of Afghanistan. He was a gunner, team leader and a designated marksman sniper. His platoon had 45 soldiers. He was there for nine months. When he came home from overseas, we drove down to welcome him at his base in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Because my sister and I were so young, the best way he could entertain us was to take us to the Airborne & Special Operations Museum. My brother wanted to give us insight into what soldiers did while fighting overseas for our country.
When I walked in the museum, the first thing I saw was a soldier parachuting from the ceiling. When we were looking around we saw this giant plane and vehicles and information about them. There were historical facts all around. The 82nd Airborne participated in D-Day in France during World War II. Another fact I learned was the U.S. Army Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets, was established on June 19, 1952. In the museum the fake soldiers and objects looked so real I wanted to touch them.
It was a great experience and something I will remember forever about our country and our military around the world. I am so proud of my brother.
