Every June, my family goes on a road trip. In about an eight-day period, we cover so many miles across our great country and visit many famous national parks. We also go to famous places besides national parks, including Graceland in Tennessee and the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. We are normally in the car for very different time lengths, from 30 minutes to six hours at a time.

In the United States, we have covered a lot of places where there are a lot of things to keep you busy. My family always plays a game to see how many different license plates we can find. Each person in my family guesses a number of license plates we are going to find and the person whose number is the closest wins.

This last summer was my family’s 14th road trip, and we visited Alaska! We were in Alaska for eight days but we didn’t get to go in a car a lot because you couldn’t always travel somewhere in a car. But we took so many different kinds of transportation. We took a train, a boat, a car, float planes, tiny airplanes, and also normal planes. This summer, 25 was the lucky number for the trip. My family found 25 different license plates and 25 different kinds of animals. The national parks my family went to were Kenai Fjords, Denali and Wrangell-St. Elias, which is the biggest national park in the United States and bigger than Switzerland.
