This week, Toyota launched the TeenDrive365 campaign, an initiative aimed at encouraging parents to adopt safer driving habits in hopes that their kids will follow suit.

According to a study conducted by Toyota and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, parents are believed to be the biggest influence on their teen's driving habits.

“We like to say that driver’s education begins the day a parent turns their child’s car seat around to face forward,” said Dr. Tina Sayer, an engineer and teen safe driving expert at Toyota.  “It’s so important that parents understand that the actions they take and the expectations they set for young drivers each day are powerful factors in encouraging a lifetime of safe behavior behind the wheel.”

To participate, parents and teens can visit the TeenDrive365 site where users can find things like safety tips, information on teen safe driving events and a quiz competition to find out out who knows more about safe driving -- parents or teens.

Teens can also enter a video competition for a chance to win $15,000.
