'Sesame Street' exhibit to open in New York City

"Sesame Street" is coming to New York City. The "Somebody Come and Play": 45 Years of Learning on "Sesame Street" exhibit is opening in September at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts to celebrate the show's 45th season, which airs this fall.
Elmo, Grover, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie and all your favorite Muppets will be on display, with the exhibit offering visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the show's entertaining and educational content. Featured items from the archives of Sesame Workshop and The Library for the Performing Arts include scripts, storyboards, lead sheets, designs, photographs, animation cells, scores and more. There will also be a special children's area featuring Snuffy and Super Grover as well as books, games, apps and e-books. Visitors will also learn about Muppets from other countries.
Additionally, there will be film screenings and public programs on puppeteering, scriptwriting and creating digital media for "Sesame Street."
The exhibit is free and will be on display in the Donald and Mary Oenslager Gallery, Shelby Cullom Davis Museum at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, located in Lincoln Center from Sept. 18, 2014 through Jan. 31, 2015.
