LI kids go on a storytelling adventure

In my school, all the fourth-graders got to participate in the program Trevor’s Room. It lasts a week, and we participated in it every day. It is an educational program from Submerge Storytelling (submergestorytelling.com) that uses something called The Realm to teach literacy, critical thinking and life skills. The whole idea is that a classroom in our school got transformed into a boy’s bedroom.

We follow a storyline, and here is how our story went:

It all begins when the boy, Trevor, is asked to join the CIA because he is amazing at code breaking. One day, while Trevor is code breaking, he finds out that there is a person named Cobra who used to work for the CIA. Cobra had been kicked out of the CIA for being a double agent and leaking secrets to a non-CIA agent. After that he went to prison.

A long time after, he breaks out of prison. Trevor finds out that Cobra is after him, so Trevor disappears. A while later, Trevor finds out about the King’s Request. The King’s Request is a bunch of old, valuable artifacts. However, it’s too late. Cobra has already broken into Trevor’s room and found out about the King’s Request himself. Now Cobra and Trevor are in a race to find the King’s Request.

While Trevor is gone, he finds out that Cobra will be at The Temple of Jaguar on his search. Once Trevor finds out about Cobra going to The Temple of Jaguar, he immediately contacts the CIA to go catch Cobra, and they succeed. After Cobra is caught, Trevor goes looking for the King’s Request in all different temples.

We enjoyed this experience because it was fun, exciting and challenging.
