Fashion Week and the ninth anniversary of 9/11. We wouldn't say the two have much in common, except they're both associated with Manhattan. But a two-artist gallery exhibit brings them together on the eve of Fashion Week and the anniversary.

"Fashion Icons" pairs French photographer Laurent Elie Badessi and American photographer-artist Andres Serrano. Badessi's black-and-white photos from 2004, when he was exclusive photographer for Charles Jourdan, incorporate mythology and surrealism. Models are depicted as Greek goddesses with California's El Mirage desert as a backdrop. Serrano, one of this country's most acclaimed contemporary artists, presents several portraits from his "America" series, which he shot in response to the tragic and heroic events of 9/11. The photographs are, Serrano says, "My America, without apology or prejudice. One flag over all."
