A slew of frugal shopping experts say that the best way to save on back to school expenses is to carefully watch sales and shop early. As September nears, back to school shopping is imminent. Kimco Realty is alleviating the budget with a contest offering a $1,000 shopping spree at Airport Plaza.

The sweepstakes gives a customer the chance the win a $1,000 shopping spree at the Farmingdale shopping center — with stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, Joyce Leslie, RadioShack and Hallmark to choose from. To enter, customers can visit Airport Plaza’s Facebook page and click on the “Sweepstakes” tab on top.

“Kimco is taking innovative approaches to help drive foot traffic to its properties and improve the retail experience at its centers,” said Diane Agostinello, Kimco’s director of marketing and leasing services. “Our social media strategies — from blogging to Facebook to Twitter and beyond — are continuing to open lines of communication between Kimco and its core audiences.”

Kimco Realty, which is based in New Hyde Park, heads neighborhood and community shopping centers. The contest is offered to those over the age of 18 and no purchase is necessary. The contest ends Sept. 20, 2012 and the winner will be announced on the Airport Plaza Facebook page.
