Run through a bubble pit and into a sea of color at the Bubble Palooza and Color Fun Run Festival, where getting covered from head to toe in blues, pinks and yellow dust is the goal.

The family-friendly event brings runners through a 1K loop at the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park where they'll be given a packet of colored cornstarch to flick around as they run the track, which begins and ends with a bubble pit. Families can run the loop up to five times, or choose to stay in the bubble area, where two machines will keep the bubbles blowing.

“It’s a great day with lots of energy,” says Shannon Reitz, a Riverhead resident who co-owns NoFo Event Co., the business behind Bubble Palooza.

The moisture from the bubbles, she adds, help the colored powder stick to participants' clothing. "The colors are definitley more vibrant" when wet, she says. Participants are given a Bubble Palooza T-shirt upon registration, but should only wear clothing that is OK to get messy.
