Newsday's Outdoor Movie Night, Great Long Island Tomato Challenge postponed
Due to a heat advisory and possible thunderstorms, Newsday's Outdoor Movie Night screening of Disney's "Zootopia" and the Great Long Island Tomato Challenge have been postponed to next Friday, Aug. 19.
Outdoor Movie Night, a free screening of "Zootopia," will be held on the lawn at Newsday's headquarters in Melville. This family-friendly event includes food vendors, giveaways, sponsor booths and entertainment for kids. New for this year, families can participate in a special "Zootopia" scavenger hunt. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will begin around dusk. For more information, visit newsday.com/movienight.
The 10th anniversary of the Tomato Challenge, also at Newsday headquarters, will be held at 7 p.m. Newsday garden columnist Jessica Damiano will be judging tomatoes in different categories, such as biggest, smallest and ugliest, as well as three youth categories.
