Lots of goings on at Eric Lomando’s St. James restaurants Kitchen A Bistro and Kitchen A Trattoria.

On Sunday Oct. 24, the Bistro will be hosting a beer dinner with Union Beer Distributors. The brews poured will include Saison Dupont, Old Rasputin and Smuttynose Pumpkin. The five-course menu is still a work in progress but Lomando promises ribollita (“reboiled” Tuscan vegetable soup), duck breast with pickled turnips and chestnut spaetzle and cocoa-rubbed venison. Dinner starts at 2:30. The price is $68 plus tip and tax.

On Wednesday Nov. 10, the Bistro will host a wine dinner with St. Innocent Winery in Salem, Oregon, and Lomando plans to highlight some of the Pacific Northwest’s signal ingredients to go with the wine. The price is $70 plus tip and tax. The menu:

Crispy poached egg with curried vegetables

Hand-made cavatelli with Alaskan spot prawns and saffron
* 2008 Pinot Blanc, Freedom Hill Vineyard

Wild salmon with sunchoke puree and Oregon truffle broth
* 2007 Pinot Noir, Temperance Hill Vineyard

Braised veal wrapped in Prosciutto with farro verde
* 2008 Pinot Noir, Momtazi Vineyard

Apple and Meyer Lemon dessert
* Coffee or tea

Meanwhile, the Trattoria has started doing four-course Sunday dinners for $35. This Sunday’s menu:

Steamed baby clams with grilled scallions and toasted bread crumbs

Spinach-and-ricotta gnocchi with sweet potatoes, mushrooms and Parmesan-sage broth

SECONDO
Traditional Sunday braise Of braciola, meatball and fennel sausage on creamy Anson Mills polenta
