Celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten is adding Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton to his repertoire of restaurants.

Vongerichten, who operates about 30 restaurants worldwide and is best known for the acclaimed Jean Georges in Manhattan, is expected to have the retooled Topping Rose House ready by Memorial Day. It marks Vongerichten’s first foray into the Hamptons.

The long-rumored move will bring the influence of a second star chef to Topping Rose House, which opened in 2012 under chef-restaurateur Tom Colicchio, the lead judge of “Top Chef.” Colicchio helped establish Gramercy Tavern and oversees an empire of dining rooms, headed by Craft, in Manhattan.

Colicchio left Topping Rose House in 2014, as did the original chef de cuisine, Ty Kotz. The restaurant earned a four-star rating in Newsday and a spot on the annual Newsday list of Long Island’s top 100 restaurants.

In addition to being a restaurant devoted to local purveyors and ingredients, Topping Rose House is a luxury hotel. Originally, the white, Greek Revival landmark was the 19th century home of Judge Abraham Topping Rose and his family. Subsequently, it was an inn and an antiques center.

Topping Rose House is at 1 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Tpke., at Montauk Highway/Main Street in downtown Bridgehampton.
