On Long Island, when an Italian restaurant goes out of business, almost invariably, another Italian restaurant comes along to take its place.
Things have changed, it seems, at the site of the former Sazzio’s - which, before that, was Pomodorino. The banner draped over the side of the building reads: Coming soon: Imperial Seoul. Korean and Japanese cuisine.
A new Korean place? I say bring on the jap chae, bibimbap and bulgoki. The addition of Japanese cuisine to the repertoire may be a key to survival, since Long Islanders are comfortable around what's familiar. Hopefully, the neighborhood is also ready for a taste of something new.
