The sound has had its ups and downs, but regardless of what has musically come and gone, it’s a good bet disco is here to stay.

Evidence of this is found in the amount of radio play the genre still receives – and anyone who has ever attended a wedding knows the boogie beat gets people out of their seats – but unfortunately, while wedding reception DJs have no problem spinning the stuff, today’s club mixers tend to focus on newer styles and currently popular tracks.

However, anyone looking to hustle, shake their groove thing and do some spirited Travolta-inspired finger-pointing in an adult and trendy venue should consider setting their sights on an upcoming event to be held at the Hotel Indigo in Riverhead.

Appropriately held on a Saturday night, the Indigo East End will host a “Disco Dinner Dance” in its ballroom on April 20, starting at 7 p.m. The evening opens with a meal served until 8 p.m., when the dance party will then officially kick off (the bar will be open the entire time). DJs Chopps and Michael Fusco will spin classic disco until midnight – but guests looking to make this a full night away from home have the option of reserving an overnight stay package at the hotel.

Admission is $50 with open bar, or $100 with both open bar and dinner; dress to impress. For more information and reservations, call 631-369-2200 or head online to indigoeastend.com.
