Many celebrity DJs have come to Long Island to spin, but there are few – if any – that perform like DJ Bl3nd.

Without question LI has seen some of the biggest and most beloved mixers from the international dance music scene arrive to ply their trade -- such as Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold and Jonathan Peters, just to name a few – and while these people are often upbeat and move to the music as they work, Bl3nd (pronounced “blend”) pumps his fists and jumps in place with a fevered ferocity like no other. Furthermore, much unlike his fellow track selectors, this Los Angeles-based mixer will actually (and frequently) leave the equipment booth to engage those in attendance, going so far as to occasionally dive into the crowd or spray everyone with fog or water from hoses. The energy style of a Bl3nd performance is more akin to a hard rock show than an average EDM event.

Another unique Bl3nd feature is his calling card: a “Chucky” (the killer doll from the “Child’s Play” horror films) mask that has been altered and festooned with flashing lights, tremendous wigs and other adornment. Bl3nd generally works in genres like dubstep and electro, but will also mix in pop hits – with everything remixed and cut in blazing fashion.

Definitely an Internet sensation, Bl3nd’s YouTube videos receive millions of views; his Facebook page is quickly closing in on 3,000,000 Likes and he is followed by more than 125,000 people on Twitter. Bl3nd also works some of the biggest festivals, concert halls and venues across the nation, and it just so happens that before he plays Manhattan’s legendary Webster Hall nightclub on Saturday, March 30 (125 E. 11th St., 212-353-1600), he’ll be live and in session at 89 North in Patchogue on Thursday, March 28.

Starting at 7 p.m., tickets will be sold at the door for $25, but are also available in advance online at ticketrink.com for $23. For more information, check out 89 North online at 89northmusicvenue.com.

89 North: 89 North Ocean Avenue, Patchogue, 631-730-8992
