Had enough of the winter yet? It’s certainly been a memorable experience, whether due to the frigid impact of the polar vortex, the icy roads or the copious snow. However, there are signs that warmer times are soon to arrive, such as the onset of spring on March 20 — or for those whose social life is key, the official 2014 opening of Stephen Talkhouse on Saturday, March 1, an (extremely) early signal of the forthcoming Hamptons summer season.

Actually, the perennial hotspot’s first foray of ’14 will take place on Thursday, Feb. 27 when the laid-back, hard-partying Amagansett venue will start its run of free “Outrageous Open Mic Nights,” slated for 8 p.m. weekly until wrapping on Thursday, May 22 (sign-ups are at 7 p.m.) – but it’s the evening of March 1 that will open the Talkhouse's new season of concerts.

The inaugural event starts at 7 p.m. for $15 with music from The Nancy Atlas Project (whose set actually stars at 8 p.m.; the show will be preceded by a screening of the Channing Tatum film “Magic Mike”), and will be followed by East Hampton-based band Casanova Frankenstein at 10 p.m. (for $10).

The Talkhouse calendar will then stay busy each week from Thursday-Saturday until the end of May, when the still-developing schedule will expand and feature shows on most nights (and likely include even larger and more notable performers).
