Thanksgiving Eve 2012: Nassau

On the chance you’ve never experienced the festivities that abound on “Thanksgiving Eve” (Wednesday. Nov. 21), know that it is a Long Island nightlife tradition. It's easily one of the biggest evenings for going out all year, since  most people are off from work and/or school on Thanksgiving, and there are many folks home for the holidays--which inspires pubs and clubs to throw special parties with extra entertainment, hoping to draw all those freed-up people itching for fun.

If you are planning to have some T-Eve adventures in Nassau, here are some likely-to-be-lively options (call ahead for cover charges and more information):

The funky 70s-style band Disco Unlimited will be playing from 8 p.m.-10 p.m., followed by dance floor-friendly beats from DJ Serg all night. All First Response emergency personnel receive free admission (with valid work ID). Dress to impress.

Zebra front man and popular rocker Randy Jackson will be playing live starting after 9 p.m.

NYC DJ Paige will make his way to LI to spin a session of fist-pumping beats starting at 10 p.m. Dress to impress; tickets are available online for $10 at strong>wantickets.com, will be more at the door.

DJ C-Mos plays party music; the bar will be serving $1 mugs of beer from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. and there will be a pumpkin pie-eating contest, with the winner scoring $250. (Train bonus: the RVC LIRR station is only a few blocks away.)

House music DJ Johnny Trombetta will lead the night (also with Aaron Banez and Jonathan Matthews) in an evening of dance beats, mashups and pop remixes. Doors open at 10 p.m. with free admission until 11 p.m. (reduced cover charge with event flyer until midnight). Dress to impress.
